Time to relax
Starting off with a DropShot.
Then maybe a beer
Getting up on the wrong side of the bed, that is how my day started. At breakfast I checked my Crypto portfolio, and my mood wend even deeper sub zero. Some days are better than others.
End of the day, getting some groceries, on foot. Taking a walk often helps to change my mindset after a shitty day. The store is already almost empty, the way I prefer it. At the cash register I am caught in the middle of an argument between two employees. The twin sisters are in a 'do not - do' battle. With me in the middle as if watching a tennis play on center court.
It is a store I visit almost daily, so I am practicly part of the furniture. One of them already has been working there for more than three years, I think. So, I am no stranger to them, nor are they unknown to me. And I prefer it when I am treated as a human being, instead of a shopping machine.
"Get me the box, Sunbeam" (Not her real name), do not know why she wants one and her sister sure does not want to bring her one. She keeps replying "NO!" in a very determined way. After several back and forths that way Demplecheeck (Not her real name either) says "Then I will get that second box myself." And she smiles when she says to me: "Such fun to work with ones sister."
That actually makes me laugh, the whole situation really changed my mood. A very familiar situation, that many of you, who have sibblings, may recognize. In a setting where one would not expect it. That is why I found it very amusing. After I payed I whished her strength in the battle of sibblings. With a smile to match.
As I went for the exit I looked at Sunbeam and I was glad to see her smile too. Smiled back at her, almost in a way that said thank you as I headed for the door. Time to go to the next and last store. When I had almost reached the city center a young woman walked towards me, asked in English if I knew where a certain supermarket was.
It was the one I just had come from. Hard to explain the directions, so I offered to walk her there. We had a nice chat and I noticed by the way she spoke English that she was not Brittish. Germany she told me, was where she was from, so I went on speaking D(e)ut(s)ch (German) with her. She was here enjoying some days off from work and just had a nice diner. And she needed to buy some water.
"Well they do have it, just bought some myself.", I replied. After we arrived at the entrance I said goodbye and whished her all the best for the new year in my best D(e)ut(s)ch: "Gluckliches Neujahr!" And got back on my way to the next store. It started to rain for a bit again.
Returned home in a better mood than I left. At home we were all laughing and joking, looked like this day turned for the good after all. And no, I was not going to ruin this again by checking my Crypto portfolio. Whatever happens, happens!
Then all of a sudden one of our odd eyed twin cats started to scratch the floor. He did this at several places. It was Louis that did the scratching, while his brother Levi was walking around in a nervous way. Hm, now why did they behave like that again...?
Ooh nooooo, this day all of a sudden did turn back into a shitty one again. And I mean for real. He had shatten himself and left traces of proof all over the place. "Poop alert, poop alert!" Tried to catch Louis before it spreaded out all over the place even more. Had a tune in my head during all of this, that one from Ghostbusters, maybe you know it.
It got some different lyrics now: "If there's something weird, and it dont smell good, who you gonna call? Poopbusters!" My daughter assisted me, getting scratched quite nasty by Louis, who was in a panic. Then I decided that there is only one solution: the shower. Louis has been there before, it is the second time for him. Levi only needed one so far.
Then after all the hectic Louis was declared safe zone again. And for me the sniffing and cleaning began, good thing I have a huge kokkert (means nose). And I am so glad there is no carpet on the floor in times like these. Then finally I could signal the all clear again. And it was time to really get the adrenaline down.
Time for a DropShot and maybe a fine brew, or two, to top it off. Still not checking the Cryptos, even though the last day of the year already started here in Nederland. And the shitty day finally ended...
