Deflation as a bonus.
Like a future investment and more curation ability.
It will have its price, of course.
Lately I have been voting at a full 100% Voting Strength almost constantly. Except for those comment spammers that do not vote on the post itself. Did not pay attention to my Voting Battery until recently. Close to 30%, already...!? Now I have to wait? Not post? What to do here? Well, only vote at 100% for posts I like. And for the time being dropping Vote Power with the slider for replies. Feels a bit strange, but at this rate I will be at ZERO soon and that takes 5 days to recover from. Still acting like I can give 40 votes a day at 100%. In fact it being 10, how could I forget?
Now I do not do this normally, but as it has been silent from the @steemitdev account for a month, I decided to hail them in this post. Well, do not know if it is being noticed, but I'll give it a shot. It is about the thing of the Voting Battery dropping fast. Give 10 upvotes at full 100% and you are done for the day. Yes, I do have the slider, but I dislike using the bugger. Also Steem members below 500 Steem Power {SP} do not have it. So, what if there was a possibility to recharge your Voting Battery? It would have to cost something. Not too high of a price, as nobody would use it. And not too low, as it would get abused. Because one actually would invest, sort of, into ones own curation reward payout. Linked to the current amount of Steem Power {SP} a member has Vested, that will determine the price, in Steem, per percent recharge.
Burn the Steem, boost the market price.
How could an account pay for a Steem Voting Battery Recharge {VBR}? Steem, Steem Backed Dollar and Steem Power? That last one might be a bit more complex to do. So, let's just burn the liquid part to @null, meaning the amount of Steem will drop, just like with a post promotion. Slower inflation, caused by deflation, less liquid Steem, higher demand, market price goes up. That is the theory, also with the Steem Smart Media Tokens {SMT} there will be liquid Steem locked, even creating more scarcity on the crypto market. It could even be possible to do an inflation correction when a lot of liquid Steem get burned. If the witnesses come to a consensus to do so. All build into the economy system of Steem. It will almost be natural, the Void giveth and the Void taketh.
As it is SP related, the price to be payed could be considered to be fair. Because a member with a lot of SP, Legend level, will pay more, but also gain more from the Voting Recharge. Let's assume one 100% Vote would be good for about 100 USD in Steem Value. Then burning 50 SBD would still give a 100% return. There is a risk added in a value drop of Steem, or Steem Backed Dollar {SBD}, cryptos are volatile like that. Of course the price of Steem could go up to 12 USD too. Then the return on the investment would even be bigger, well, quite a lot actually. The witnesses could decide on the price of the Voting Recharge. And the members just vote for the witnesses they prefer. Although it could be more clear what witnesses are still active, even giving notifies about those who are behind and so on. Auto-unvote on witnesses that have not been active for at least... But that is another idea.
Deflation and more interaction.
What is in it for members who have low Steem Power in their account? Well, they can recharge their Voting Battery relatively cheap. Knowing that their Vote is 100%, so will the potential payout be, still they pay 50% per recharge. To put it differently, their constant 100% upvote, as they are below 500 SP, will drop their Voting Strenth by 20%, per day. They can vote 10 times for that. Now every vote is 1 cent worth. When they are out of their day limit, 10 votes - down 20%, they can buy a recharge. This would cost 5 USD cents of Steem worth and could help them get 10 cents. Slowly growing their SP, more risk, more gain. The Voting Battery will recharge itself too, so it would not be overused, except for those who have automated their curation system. And therefore it may be an idea to have a limit set at the amount of recharge that can be bought by burning liquid Steem.
Is it a sound idea? Do not know, it was just something that came up when I saw my Voting Strength had dropped so badly. So, do not expect me to vote for your replies at full 100%, as I still need about three days to recover. And with having a bad cold at the moment, that almost has a deeper meaning for me.
Have a great one.
Soon Steem will rule them all...
