Donating as promised to Pirates 4 Kids dot NL foundation and how I'm going to use the Vote Power Slider

When I entered the logo design competition for the eSteem app, I also made a post about that. And promised to make a donation after the 24 hour round. Now, it turned out that, allthough I was surprised by some big powered upvoters, it seemed I missed a SteemIt update role out. What I noticed there was the voting power slide in effect. At first only the 100 million VESTS (Another way to describe STEEM value, as used at SteemD) owners had that advantage, but now Dolphins like me seem to have gotten that too. But, I'll get back to that later, first the promised donation.

As this will be in Euro to an IBAN banking account, I will need to find a way to do so. Going from Steem Backed Dollar, via Blocktrades to Bitcoin in my CoPay wallet and finally using BitBill for getting it to Pirates 4 Kids dot NL. Phew, that would take me a while I guess, specially because all the steps inbetween. First, the amount, think that 5 SBD that was left after the payout isn't exactly that much. But luckily I won the 50 SBD with the design contest, so I will be using part of that too. Allready used 10 to boost, eurm, promote an article about the latest eSteem release and think I maybe do some more with that. Anyway, I want the P4K to get 10 euro on their bank account.

Have to take some things into account. Dollar to Euro conversion is 90% and the current SBD to Dollar is 86%, I round this down on purpose. Also BitBill takes 1% of the total amount to be exchanged and 1 euro for their services. And I'm okay with that, allthough I know Nocks is cheaper, at BitBill I can check the payments. Or it would even be bettter if Pirates for Kids dot NL would start to use Coinpayments dot NET, or BitPay dot Com. Looking at the Pirates 4 Kids dot NL website I can see that they do not really have an active webmaster, but I found an IBAN account. So, let's do this!

Could this not be done more easy?

Calculating donation: 10 euro * 1.11 exv ~ 11.20 dollar => 11.20 dollar * 1.17 exv ~ 13.20 SBD. Now when taking into account the costs of BitBill: 10 euro donation + 1% (= 0.10) + 0.99 tx cost = 11.09 euro => (11.09 * 1.11) * 1.17 ~ 14.41 SBD. Okay, so I need to send 14.41, wow it's palindrome, to Blocktrades to get the right amount of Bitcoin. In the time calculating this and at the same time writing this post, the value of SBD dropped... Needed a recalc for about 1.09 euro. And take into account that a BTC transaction costs around 0.16 cents. Forgot that... And what would you know? Still forgot the other transaction cost of about 0.16 cents. But to do just another one for that? Not this time. So they'll get a bit less than 10 euro. Even more that the article got in payment though.

So let's find the IBAN account and use BitBill

Found the IBAN data for donating to Pirates 4 Kids dot NL. And then I remembered, that BTC takes a while to comfirm, could last upto an hour. We at SteemIt are so spoiled with the way transactions go almost at lightspeed, and how BlockTrades dot US really fits into that nicely. Only used an exchange once when @blocktrades seemed to be down. And I'm glad they are around and take SBD. Still, no confirmation of Bitcoin at all. Send two transcations to the same BTC address, just to safe out on tx costs, mainly.

While I wait for the confimations, about that Voting Power

At some point it felt like those huge Voting Power owners ( 100 MV and up) were having a go at it with their new found slider toy. Wondered even why I got the attention from them in the first place, but that might be due to a magical word, like Tesla and maybe Musk would do too. Elon Musk is well known for his Voluntary Objectives. As a supporter of Open AI for instance. But anyway, you might allready have found out what mentioning those names does in effect for your article. While I learned about the Vote Power Slider function being available to some through that. And now I can use that too!

Now, when I'm going to upvote some trending huge Voting Power owners, and I just like the post, then I'll set my upvote to 1%. Because I want to be able to upvote the people I follow to the max. And when I feel like a post is real good, even from a big Voting Powered one, then I'm going full Steem ahead. Maybe even responding with a reply. And now I can also upvote replies with 1%, as a kind of 'like' button, without losing my Voting Power for good posts that rock my socks off. In a way this could ease out things. Still not using the 'flag' though, just don't like it, because it gets used as a kind of attack weapon. And that is in conflict with my Voluntary Objectives.

And I'm still a happy Dolphine, no matter what! In the meantime I noticed that the BTC have arrived. Let's move on...

Now I need to fill out a form, just like online banking

Seems things are not all that predictable, made a mistake in CoPay to leave transaction cost at economy. And I really need to rethink how to get the total transaction costs at the right amount. Any way, the donantion has been done, now I'm curious how long it takes to get to the account of the Pirates 4 Kids dot NL foundation.

Still some SBD left, so let me see what I'm going to do with that. But allready on borrowed time again, so time to round things up, Steem wise.

Have a good one!

EDIT: Could be that this one actually will go into oblivion, but still have some SBD left to have a go at it again.

UPDATE

The transaction got full confirmed!
