This is my latest purchase of a yellow copper / brass object. It is a mortar that seems to have been used quite a lot.

It seems to have the signature of the 17th century metal master Henrick Ter Horst, from Enschede, Nederland. But I have not seen any like this particular one before.

There is a text visible "LOF GODT VAN AL", which would mean something like: " Praise God of All"...?

It might be a 19th or late 20th century copy, because of the apparant rim.

What do you make of it?

It was an impuls buy, just because I liked it and the sell supports a good cause.
