Got my RCs sorted!
Now how about that Mana build up?
For a better Steem experience
That the transition from HF19 into HF20 could be a rough ride had been announced up front. And just like predicted it would start to kick in after about 24 hours. Just like the voting system change before it can take about 7 days in total to stabilize. Therefore I stayed chill when these errors came up as I tried to upvote and so on. Sometimes change can hurt, yet lead to something better. And I truly belief HardFork 20 'Velocity' is a clever developement. It was needed badly to keep Steem future ready.
RC, or Resource Credits (not Remote Control, I know) make it harder to SPAM the Steem blockchain. Credits will be used according to the level of strain an operation puts on the system. And it will rebuild itself over a period of 5 days. Just sending transactions, upvoting and writing replies will cost RCs. And that Mana loss will take time to recover.
Those that want to rigg the system, one way or another, really will need to put in a lot of their own skin. No more loads and loads of yer 'good post', 'nice photo dear', 'upvote me, even though I did not upvote you', replies just cost too much to get wasted like that. Also 'bot' services will have to rethink their system. Some might have to throw the towel in the ring. But that will become more clear around the third of october 2018.
Better quality?
When I try to speculate about where this change could lead to then I would state a better overal Steem experience. Less SPAM, less bots, better valued quality posts and more quality posts. As every post and interaction with the Steem blockchain has its RC cost it is worth thinking about what is worth doing.
Reputation will be harder to build, take probably more time to do so. Things will slow down in a sense, less of a post and reply flood, filling up the Steem blockchain. It can feel a bit of getting used too. As one really has to think things through. Keeping replies to a minimum can be tough, I can imagine. And when to put more of ones own skin in the game, to be able to get a higher RC value, to be able to interact more with the Steem blockchain.
This sure is going to change things. The rules of the Steem blockchain game have changed quite drasticly. And I think it is a fair way to put a price on every operation in relation to the strain it puts on the system. Therefore I think the Steem team made a clever move and did a great job. To me this is already one of the best HardForks so far. Only to be beaten by HF21 'Graduate'.
Long live the Steem blockchain!
Got my RCs ready to rock!
