One of my all times favorite photographs. Shot with my beloved Nikon D50 using the 50mm lens. Bumblebees are not known for their being good photo models. And I need steady objects to catch on CCD, so this was my lucky shot.
Bumblebees are called "Hommel" over here in Nederland, and that means like buzzing, making a humming like sound. The English name 'bumble' implies that it is quite a clumsy flying kind of bee. But I think that is not really fair to that little hummer.
These little creatures are actually quite amazing. They can for instance create positive electrical charges with there wings and markt flowers with that. And they are able to pick up these electrical signatures, their own and of other bumblebees.
Another one of nature's beautifull wonders and I had the luck to catch it on camera.
