This is a 'decline payout' post.

Do you know this number sequence: 1,2,3,5,8,13,22,35,57,92? It could help your voting at SteemIt. Although it might be tricky to find a post with 21 votes. You upvoting it to 22, and so on. If it actually worked that way.

The numbering I mentioned before is known as the Fibonacci sequence. And if you would divide the 22nd value over the 21st you will get a unique constant. That is known as the Golden ratio. And the more you extend the Fibonacci sequence, the more accurate the ratio will get. This set of numbers and the related Golden ratio can be found in nature. In such a way even that it is said to be the math of creation itself... Just search and you'll find, because I'm drifting off, again.

Math puzzle for large numbers

How to determine vote influence on the division of the reward pool at SteemIt? It is in fact a Steem Power vote. And this can be calculated into a value of VEST. This is actually used on the lowest level of the blockchain. It is the technology that drives Steem(it), it is called: Graphene.

But if VESTs were used in SteemIt then those extreme large numbers might be somewhat to complex. Computers don't mind though, it is what they do best: crunching numbers. And then we are using math to make thing easier to understand.

You might get a grip, for instance, on 56 votes. But what if it said 34.435.786.897.765 VEST. And not something about potential payout. But the VEST amount is close to what is actually going on under the hoot.

And because computers can deal with those extreme huge numbers, all kinds of math can be done. Even resulting in bigger numbers. Things like finding the base value of a large number. And in such a way that the first vote on any post not gets all of the rewards. Even if it comes with a huge amount of Steem Power attached. Although it is a huge influence on the potential payout, the voting system is bound to the amount of votes also.

It can be understood as a sequence. First one not really counting realtive to the Steem Power attached. Next two votes are having more impact. Then four, eight, sixteen, and so on. Gaining in impact on the potential payout every next doubling of votes. And yet, you might get stuck at a few 'cents' to nil, nada, noppes...!?

Remember the Steem Power

In the math that is done to decide how many payout a post could get per round depends on the total VEST score. And that is depending on the amount of votes and what Steem Power they have attached.

In effect this means that if you only would get one vote on a reply by an account with a lot of Steem Power, you could earn a bigger payout then the original post. Even if it got over a hundred votes. Because, if these 100 accounts have 10 SP and the reply voter 100.000 SP they are outnumbered by the Power of Steem vote.

The way this is calculated is by using large number math in VEST. And when you understand this, even if just the concept, you'll understand how SteemIt voting works. And how potential payout is mostly determined by votes that have at least a few thousand Steem Power attached. And that also give their 100℅ vote. That's what I do, anyway, always full Steem Power vote, for replies also.

Voting strengh, the capacity

The percentage of Voting Power, 99,99℅ at it's maximum determines how many times, per cycle, you can vote full 100℅ Steem Power. And it works like a capacitor. You can upvote fast, many times, but it will drop your Voting Power percentage in the same pase.

To get back to the full percentage will take longer than you fast upvoting at full Steem Power. So if you want to curate a lot if different accounts, maybe by using a vote bot, you might go for 10℅ Steem Power votes. It also means that those who get a 10℅ Steem Power vote will get a tenth of the potential payout.

Still following how this works...? ;-)

So there really is no logical reason for calling out accounts that are supposed to vote more. As if that determines other accounts their potential payout, it is absolutely not. There is even a downside to upvoting a lot very fast. This is a build in threshold to protect the community against voting botnets.

The only thing that matters most is the Steem Power vote at a full 100℅. And the more of those, the better, the higher the potential payout per round.

Hope this was of use to you. And if you want to reply, feel free to do so.

May the Steem be with you!
