There were some major financial set-backs already at the end of 2016 and the early start of 2017. Had to touch my crypto reserves, against my whish, but sometimes bills need to be payed. Luckily my overall portfolio value did rise, almost doubled within half a year time, so it must just have been my bad mood mainly. When I told my better half this morning that I started the Power Down proces yesterday, she just asked me: "Why?" And that made me realise that it was a wrong decision. So, I reversed my innitial choice. My Steem Power is still there and it seems it is going to be there for a while longer.

Making big choices in a somber mood, that is not good. Luckily #Steem has three kinds of cool down functions. One where you can stop the innitial Power Down, next is that you can Power Up the Steem that got Powered Down. And when Powered Down, and still in doubt, it can be put in Savings. After that to be returned to the innitial spot and returned back by Powering Up. It is one of those nice things that makes Steem unique in its own kind. Still I dislike it when I'm at reputation 65 and on my profile it won't show until I reached 65.1, but hey, it is still not perfect. Guess I've been somewhat on a lesser drive lately.

Remember the oal' days

Yes, them early days, where I remember payouts of 3500. It is kind of crazy, is it not? Once there was not Blogging on a Blockchain, then in April 2016 there it was: Steem on Graphene. And what a ride it has been so far! Coming april Steem will celebrate it's first birthday and it already seems like it has been around for ages. Lost count on how many items I wrote since I joined on the 26th of may last year. There were some real good ones, in my own opinion, that made nada. And there were those that made me quite a lot, with me wondering why. It is somewhat unpredictable. Guess that is one of the fun parts of this Social Media Platform.

And yes, it did feel kind of bad when I started the Power Down sequence yesterday. So, I'm glad I did stop the proces today. Let's see what happens in the time to come. Still got some value in my crypto reserve and that market is really going like crazy right now. So maybe letting what is left stay there as long as possible could give some profit on the long run. And the value of Steem still seems to be going about the same height, still top 10 material. Guess that should keep me at ease for a while.

New year, new chances, the Blokchain breakthrough

Seems like the Blockchain tech will have a real common acceptance in 2017. Already noticed that people do not look at me like I'm coming from Mars when I mention the word Bitcoin. Here in Nederland we have the word of the year election, and it could well be 'Blockchain'. Although not really Nederish of course, that would be 'blokketting', but many English words already entered our lives, so why not another one? But since Disney embrassed the Blockchain fully with their Dragonchain tech, maybe that is going to do the same as they did for VHS (the video system of the oal' days.)

In the Blockchain we trust, it seems to be the buzz word in many fields. That is why the creators of Steem might have started exactly at the right moment in time. Because when the term 'Blockchain' really is going to get mainstream in 2017 then the excistence of a Social Media Platform on that tech base, is really going to attract some serious attention. Don't you think...?

Well, that's it for now, I'm now back at ease, with my Steem Power still in one piece.

Have a good one!
