With spring getting closer here in Oldambt, more and more birds have started singing their songs with joy, in their own typical voice. And lately I did notice this sound that was very familiair to me, somehow. Just could not pinpoint it. And somehow I seemed to have missed it before. Like I was hearing it for the first time, in 2017, or became aware of it, might be a better statement. And then it hit me... It is like a sonar, but a very unique one, for that matter.
Stark Trek, the original series, Science Fiction for Television from 1966 until 1969. At least I remember reruns of that series where that bleeping sound could be heard on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. A ping, not a computer network one, but from a ship sonar, although the computer type is based on that idea. Star Trek sonar, that is the one, at least so I thought, yet the original series one did not sound as much alike as the song of the unknown bird. The answer came in the Star Trek 2009 version of the sonar ping.
The sound had been found, and I put a YouTube video in here with it, so you can check it too. And maybe have the answer what bird it actually is that sings its song this way. Or is it a bird that can mimick any sound? Like I know that some crows and peckers can. Do you have the answer?
Have a great one!
