And there I was, doing my best to translate 'Kinderen van de maan' into 'Children of the moon'. A short novel, magical realism, that should not be that hard right? Well, I did underestimate that a bit, okay, a lot. It took me quite a while to write the original. At some point I had writers block and just had to put it aside for quite a while. And nobody minded because I had not told anyone yet that I was working on it anyway. Now yesterday I published the first chapter of the original version in my native tongue: Nederlands. (No, it is not 'Dutch', because that actually means: 'Deutsch' and that translates to: 'German'. That's the language of our neighbouring country: Germany.)

Some days these things just work right away. And this is a monday where I seem to have to push and rethink every bleedin' word. Where the sentences look like they are written by a robot who just learned a new language but has no gut feeling put into it. Now, I do not have a compulsive disorder behaviour, nor am I a perfectionist, but once I have said 'A' I need to do the whole alphabet and it needs to be excellent! So, no presure, aye...? Do you know that feeling when you think you must do something and you'll end up doing anything but that? Yes, I'm easily distracted also.

It is not that I had put a time table on it. Yeah, I did, in my mind, but you did not know that now did you... Ah shait... Well, it fitted the Yule Tide spirit. But there will be another one of that next year, right? Still, if I do it from scratch I could use the original as a kind of spin off. That former story I started 'just like that', maybe that would do the trick. The goal that I had set in my mind is before the 25th of december 2016. The whole thing, translated in a way that it makes sense and also grabs the reader's imagination, but no presure...

Somebody get me more coffee, I need that freakin' caffeine...!

Finally, a note to myself: "Remember, all it takes is time, after a while, even an egg will walk."
