In a Whatsapp group I started recently, most members do not have Telegram unfortunately, called 'Cryptonauts', I wrote about all them recent Steem forking clones. Like there are: WeKu, WhaleShares, Smoke and Scorum. Besides Golos, but that one has been around for quite a while. Scorum and Smoke are truly unique themed substantive Steem forks. Which seems to be a new market for decentralized media platforms.

Smoke [https://smoke.io] is aimed at the realm of Cannabis and just started to go live recently. And Scorum [https://scorum.io] aims at the sport enthousiasts. Which might be one that really kicks off. Although the web interface does not seem to be able to adapt to a mobile or tablet sized screen. That is a bit of a nono in 2018. Also they might have a copyright challenge, with members using material of commercial media. But it can still become a big hit in themed Steem forking clones.

Beer theme, anyone?

In the 'Cryptonauts' group I was suggesting to fork Steem into a beer themed fork. Already wanted to do a Nederish version. But a beer network might catch on far better. The token being beer and the stake beer power. Breweries having their own accounts. Maybe giving the beer network members a chance to pay with beer tokens. Little breweries advertising their goodies, imagine that!

We'll have RoelandP organize BeerFest, somewhere in Belgium, probably. And we'll be sharing beer stories and singin' drunken lullabies, recorded live on BeerTube. Maybe change something to the code, scratch the Beer backed Beer Dollar. And what would be the cap? How to start up the Beerconomy? Maybe give new accounts 2018 BP. Make sure signing up is tough, you have to prove you are a human being, solving a puzzle, at least...

Steem the evolution

Well, there must be a lot of possible theme ideas for a Steem fork. Maybe one with Cooking as a theme. Could even be that you do not need to bother setting up a substantive fork though. Just create an unique website interface, use Steem as the blockchain engine, communicate using the API. And reward contributers using SMTs. Like beer for instance. No need to even start a substantive clone, just build it on top of the excisting one, known as Steem.

Now, who is with me for the beer themed network build on Steem? Or do you have another idea in for a theme in combination with a Smart Media Token?
