Smart money, had been suggested. Now I do agree that bankers money is dumb money, so that would make cryptos indeed smart. Yet when abbriviation is used Smart Money becomes SM. Now I think that already has a distinct meaning of its own. So, Smart Cash then? SC sounds almost like it has got a mascotte right away: "Esee". Could work like the Tux penguin for Linux.
But why does it need to be called 'smart'. Not all cryptos have designed Proof Of Smartness {dPOS}, like Bitshares and Steem. Just burning a lot of energy should not even be called smart, really now, come on. That leaves just words like money and cash.
Digital money neither
Bankers debt money is mostly digital, their cash is just there so we can still tip street artists. If they had a Smart Phone we could tip them cryptos. They just would have a print with QR codes on them. With Bitshares and Steem that would go like 1-2-3-TIP!
Crypto Money, CM {See'em}, that might be a name that fits. Enough to explain it to the non-crypto innitiated people? Or maybe bitMoney is a better name. Being at Steem one probably is familiar with its also awesome relative Bitshares. And to promote that too, terms like bitCash or bitMoney would be good.
Focus on the bit thing
For me the use of a name like bitMoney to explain cryptos to the general public makes sense. Even the abbriviation BM is okay. And the campaign could be called BeeM! BitMoney, as easy as 1-2-3.
Yes, of course this is aimed at our hometeams Steem, Bitshares and all their great relatives. And it will link to the upcoming Smart Contract platform, by Daniel Larimer, that I codenamed bitContracts.
Bit makes sense
At one point I was close to the release of yet another energy burning coin. Not a nuclear plant needed next door kind of crypto, but still a kind of a waste of resources.
The name I came up with was bitValue. Value for every bit. Had all the design done, compiled and tested. Bitvalue, BIT, you could TIB, sorry TIP it with ease. Give a BIT, get a BIT. The street artists would surely get a Smart Phone to be able to get some of that.
Well, although I did like the BIT tipping idea, I put the project to sleep, no need for yet another resource eating earth heating crypto.
But... Along came Steem and I rediscovered Bitshares through that. This is what I saw for BIT to be. And I'll get back to the tipping idea in a future post, give a BIT, get a BIT.
This is it, Steem, Bitshares and all their direct relatives, the future is now! And to get it accepted by the general public, while supporting the hometeams, I thought bitMoney would be the right name.
And how about you?
Have a great one!
